Drugs Outlawed in Mexico

During this week our Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton went to Mexico to help solve a growing problem dealing with illegal drugs. Mrs. Clinton spoke to the diplomats about making stricter laws that prevent these drug dealers to go around killing innocent. It has only been three months and the numbers of murders have increased dramatically! The president suggested that the US should help by enforcing armed forces to get rid of these people. Because the drugs that are being smuggled eventually enters the USA soil. Eventually, the United States will get involved.

I think that Hillary is doing a great job by trying to solve a problem that is getting worst! I think it’s ridiculous that innocent people are getting killed over a substance. I hope they find these drug dealers and put them in jail forever!

Tweet Tweet

This article basically summarized a new way of social networking. It’s called Twitter. This is how people around the world notify each other when they are doing something productive or just plain bored. A simple format that captures the subscriber’s attentions. It’s similar to the tagline on a facebook profile. This technology is sweeping the nation by storm and is currently expanding into different countries over seas. The president of the company is planning to make a different version of the Twitter in Europe and Korea.

I really don’t know how to tweet. But, it seems like most of my friends are doing it. I heard you can follow people. Like what they’re doing in their daily lifestyle. That really creepy and scary at the same time.

Starbucks No More?

The mega coffee company known as Starbucks was founded by a gentleman name Howard D. Schultz in 1985. He never knew that his passion in coffee would make him into a millionaire. The famous $4 cup of coffee and teas has made huge profits for the company. However, in today’s struggling economy people are not buying these luxuaries treats and are settling for the second best thing. Starbucks is announcing that it will close many of its stores in neighborhood or business districts that do not make enough profit.

I like Starbucks. My friends work there and it seems like great summer job for teenagers. However, it seems like Starbuck’s marketing people are opening new stores across the block from their very own. It seems like their competing with themselves. Maybe that’s the reason why they are losing so much money.

Skype Reaching for the Sky

When companies want to make money, they like to advertise. They resort to networking websites like facebook, myspace, twitter etc. However, a new kind of technology has surfaced into the mainstream media. It was invented years ago but not many people knew about it until now. It’s called Skype, a different way of calling to domestic and international countries. The features that it offers are limitless. Companies like AT&T and Vonage are losing subscribers because Skype is much more affordable and easy to use. They have free features such as webcam and instant messaging as long as you have internet access. Huge companies are spending thousands of dollars to have an ad on their homepage. The sky is the limit for Skype.

I use Skype when I’m talking to my families oversea. Their quality in sending images and voice calling features are outstanding. I watch Oprah and other talk shows and I notice that they also used Skype in their interviews. I hope that this company can improve its technology and getting more subscribers to their massive networking channels.

Polio

Summary of Article:
In this article I discovered that Poliomyelitis (polio) is a highly infectious disease caused by a virus. This virus attacks the nervous system and can make paralyzed you within minutes. This affects older generation and newborn children the most because of their aging and developing stages. Over 50% of all cases around the nation are children.
This virus goes through a very complex path. First it enters through the mouth and makes its way into the smaller and large intestines. Eventually making its way into the spine. The symptoms can be describes as intense headaches, fever, fatigue, stiffness of muscles, vomiting, and pain in the neck and limbs. For people that are affect, over the years they will experience irreversible paralysis. The medical fields are studying to find vaccines to kill this virus once it starts to enter the human body. However, research are limited because due to lack of funding. Patients are left with only one decision. Life with this infection and deal with it in their normal lifestyle.
People can spread this virus though contact. Sharing of food when you are infected. Mothers can pass this to their offspring during her pregnancy.
My Views:
I feel sad to see people being affected by this disease/ virus. I hope that there are cures to prevent this from getting any worse. Just the feeling or idea of being paralysis can make someone very depressed. I can’t imagine me or my loved ones having this sickness.

Tax Investion! (Extra Credit)

New Yorkers are up in arms about the scandalous loans that major banks are asking from the government. It always seem like these banks are in trouble. However, when they get a mass amount of money they spend it wastefully. Investors are very couscous when it comes to where they put their money. At least $100 billion are lost in tax evasion.

I think that the government is blinded by these banks and that they have been tricked into thinking that they are actually helping these banks. Were spending precious money from taxpayer to help give extra bonus to bank leaders.

The Kidney! (Extra Credit)

In summation of this article was about a young scientist that helped or maybe first handed invented the fake kidney and heart machine to help people with the death causing illness. He was a college graduate that lived through World War II. He was inspired to make these models when he was young, using soda cans and gels. Eventually his passion and skills helped him get respect.
When a person have a kidney failure. It is very hard for them to filter the poisonous materials or urea out of their systems. How can a bean size kidney be so powerful when it comes to maintaining an even level of toxins away from your busy? Easy, it never stops. This is true fact about kidneys. You can actually live with just one. Since operations are so expensive. Many relatives of the patient donate their organs to help with the procedures.
Since the invention of many kidney methods. It has help people with handling their sickness. There are few people that cause this to them selves. When you over drink you can really damage your kidney!!

My Views:

I’m a very compassionate person. I feel very sad to see that a person it suffering from kidney failure. Because I know that they must be in so much pain and may have a slim chance of living. I find it quite interesting that we have passionate scientist that have devoted their live in helping and inventing new methods of curing this illness. Man I can’t imagine living with a kidney problem
